From Gods to Garbage Dwellers

with one comment

For cats in Cairo, it’s a rough life.  There are literally millions of feral cats living on the streets of Cairo, often surviving off little more than scraps of garbage.  The worst moment for me in Cairo was witnessing a 2 or 3 week old kitten getting run over by a car – in slow motion, the car tire squeezed over the cats backbone, it screamed in pain, and struggled while limping off into a nearby alley.  The cat no doubt died minutes later.

That moment for me was the reason I wanted to tell this story.  Plus, it was another great opportunity to hook up with Global Post Egypt correspondent Theodore May for an article/video combo.
